Step into the past and see how America began at Colonial Williamsburg, an educational and exciting destination for the entire
family.
On a Williamsburg vacation, you can visit some of the many structures from the colonial period reconstructed on their original
sites. Authentic colonial homes, a town jail (with authentic stocks), taverns, and shops are among the buildings you can view
here. Want to take on a more active role? You can. "The Revolutionary City" is a daily, two-hour event where you can play
a role in the shaping of a new America.
Just down the road you'll find the Jamestown Settlement, where the all aspects of life and culture of America's first permanent
colonists - and the Powhatan Indians they encountered - is explored. Yorktown completes "America's Historic Triangle," and
offers guided tours of the battlefield where General Cornwallis was forced to surrender to General Washington and his combined
American and French forces.
But history isn't the only attraction on a Williamsburg getaway. Nearby Busch Gardens offers modern thrill rides for the whole
family. Plus, Virginia Beach is only about an hour's drive away.
