Many Americans who visit the Bahamas are left to wonder: Why would anyone fly so far for a beach vacation when paradise is
right next door?
The Bahamas consist of a grouping of 29 islands located just southeast of the United States. Together they offer amazing sand
and surf, and ever-warm and sunny days that never seem to disappoint. And each location offers a different point of view.
Nassau
Visitors to the capital city of Nassau, on the island of New Providence, can hop a boat and explore a pristine beach, frollick
with dolphins or feed rays and sharks. Or they can head into town and explore the Bahamas' rich and colorful history, forged
by pirates such as Blackbeard, British and Spanish rule and even an American invasion. Also a popular cruise-ship port, Nassau
provides some of the best nightlife - and duty-free shopping - in the Bahamas.
Freeport
Freeport, the Bahamas' second most populous city, plays host to many modern and amenities-laded beachfront resorts where guests
can explore miles of soft sand and calm ocean waters. Fine dining and shopping are also popular at this Grand Bahama Island
destination, mere minutes from guests' hotel, villa, condominium or apartment doors. Scuba divers also often begin their adventures
here, where they have quick access to one of the world's most spectacular underwater cave systems.
Other popular Bahamian locations include Abaco Island and Marsh Harbour. Discover the possibilities for relaxation and exhilaration
on your next Bahamas vacation.
